Title: Samsung Plasma HDMI Input Labeled "PC"
Post by: vroom on October 10, 2014, 03:05:50 am
Hi all, as the title says. Anyone label their HDMI input as "PC"? What exactly does this do besides gray out a bunch of settings in the display menus? Does it make the display act like a computer monitor?

Should I calibrate my TV based off that or calibrate based off the regular input label?

I've left Madvr at default settings (PC levels 0-255), so if the TV is labelled as PC would it expect RGB 0-255 as well?

Cheers!

If your PC has an HDMI out then can connect the PC to your plasma via that port and MC would stream directly to it. As the input is labeled PC it probably supports the Windows automatic resolution negotiation algorithms (which explains why those manual settings are grayed out in the TVs settings). It might be better than using another HDMI input (or it might not). Try it out..

Anothing thing it might do is 1:1 pixel mapping, which can be important if you can't enable that on other labels.
