Title: Better Cover Art Resolution on Media Network
Post by: somi on October 24, 2014, 09:20:31 am
Hi everyone, i need help with the cover displaying trough the media network.
I use WDTV Media Player connected to JRiver 19 Media Network.
All my cover arts are at least 720x720 are embedded in every single file and look gorgeous on laptop.
When i try to play those files on the WDTV media player they simply look ugly like 200x200.
If i connect the hd with the music through USB to WDTV the cover looks good again, so the problem must be in the jriver server
I assume the server creates pregenerated thumbnails at small resolution to send to the player.
There's a way to make those thumbnails bigger or just use original resolution jpg file?
Thanks a lot

P.S. : All settings on JRiver are on original no conversion and present small artwork is off

Try turning on the MC server setting "present small artwork" (note in upnp terms "small" artwork is larger than the regular "thumbnail" artwork).

I just tried, it doesn't change anything.
Any other ideas?

I'd make sure the "small artwork switch is off"
then turn on the PS3 compat option in Advanced.

Amongst other things it provides the artwork at a higher resolution with the standard tag that some renderers seem to want even though the artwork size presented is out of spec.

That's actually better. Thank you a lot!
It seems that before jriver was showing something like 120x120 cover (or under 200 anyway)
Now they look like 400x400, not as good as the original but i can live with that.
Thank you again!
