Title: Matt - update librbary?
Post by: Gatobrit on January 30, 2002, 04:24:37 am
Matt,
I read your post regarding the library update. I thought I completed this but maybe I didn't.

Matt>You need to do an "Update All Files" with "Extended Fields" enabled.

I don't appear to be able to find this option. I look in File / Library / Update Library and it doesn't look like this option.

Where can I find the option your are refering to?

Select All Files -> File Properties -> Choose "Update all files" (by the Save button) -> Press "Save"

To test it, remove a file from the database and re-import.  All the info (replay gain, etc.) should still be there.

If you hit any speed bumps, just let us know.

Matt,
OK. I found the update process. Thanks for responding so quickly.

It is a "little slow" - it been running for 30 minutes now on 2000 files.

Again, the progress window appears initally and then goes away. Seeing a little counter incrementing during this process would help a little. See my other posts in the v.193 comment stream.

It can be _very_ slow if the files didn't have ID3v2 tags before, because it'll have to rewrite everything.

About the message dissappearing, we'll try to figure it out.

Thanks.

Matt,
Seems reasonable. I guess we're now "supposed" to use ID3v2 tags? On older versions of MJ I picked up that this was a resource hog and "shouldn't" be used.

Do you have an opinion?
