Title: Windows Warning
Post by: rudyrednose on November 11, 2014, 04:40:19 pm
Minor problem: Windows Smartscreen complains (on Windows 8.1pro) about the download.
Sorry, I do not have the exact text on hand, I bypassed quickly the warning, before I thought about flagging it here...

Something about uncommon program download from JRiver.

That was probably for the new WDM driver.  It's safe.

I don't think that was the WDM driver, maybe I'm mistaken but I think SmartScreen checks the downloaded file against a database of "safe" files and if its not recognized it flags it as possibly unsafe. Guilty until proven otherwise I suppose. It's just another trick to gather data to profile people as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know how to get the file in that database though to have SmartScreen detect it as safe.
