Title: Can I direct video to MC on HTPC and audio to MC on laptop?
Post by: wibblefish on November 12, 2014, 06:04:05 pm
Greetings

forgive me if this is considered a dumb q.. I have read the wiki on Zones but can't figure out how to accomplish what I want which is...

From MC on my client laptop, I want to select a video from the main library (on HTPC) and have the video play on my HTPC which is connected to my TV and to have the audio directed to the DAC connected to my laptop. Or failing that, to select the video on the HTPC and have the audio directed to my laptop.

Can this be done?

many tx
John

Start by enabling Media Network.

Then, from your laptop, connect to the HTPC.

If you can get that far, try playing.

What happens?

I already have media network enabled (as the laptop MC shared the library from the master MC database on the HTPC)
Under playing now, I can see the 2 zones I have on the HTPC, "Hi-fi" and "TV". Is that what you mean by "connect to the HTPC?"

when on the laptop I right click on a video and select send to --> Play (HTPC: TV) , the video and sound comes out on the HTPC (albeit in a window not full screen).
So I just want this to play full screen and have the audio come out on MC running on my laptop.

Does anyone have any more thoughts on this (i.e. is it possible to watch video on MC on PC#1 and direct the audio stream to MC running on PC#2?
