Title: Ignoring leading punctuation upon sort
Post by: nickolsj on November 12, 2014, 11:17:18 pm
Trying to sort on the first letter or number and ignore any leading punctuation (i.e. "weird al" will be sorted under 'w' instead of by quotes).  For the most part i have figured it out; i have added the punctuation to the ignore list in the options window under the sorting field.  Just having problems getting it to accept the $ symbol.  It WILL sort if the '$' has a space between it and the next character but not when there is no space between.  This might seem kind of nit picky but its buggin me an was wondering what im overlooking.  FYI other punctuation (For instance quote marks) that have no space between the punctuation and the beginning of the word work fine - just the $ symbol.

Most articles require the space, so it's only special cases that don't require a space.

Next build:
Changed: The article $ doesn't require a space after it to be ignored for sorting.

Found some other ones that are doing the same thing:  '('  '...' and '.'
