Title: Tool Name and Version (thm655321)
Post by: thm655321 on November 05, 2014, 04:20:04 am
Remove the automatic addition of <Tool> and <Tool Version> tags.  I like to keep my tags clean and these are always added by JRiver whenever you use it to tag files.  I am not aware of any other tagging program that does this.

Thanks.

Do this or similar

By writing the tool name and version to the tag, we make it possible to fix a bug that was only in a specific version.  This has been important at times.

I'd hate to lose that ability.

Also, ID'ing ourselves as the tag writer is good form.  It's complete transparency that way.

When I look at a file and think "Alright, who tagged that stupid thing?" it's not fun.

Just trying to be practical here, could you possibly make it so that this can be turned off (visible and unlocked) in Tools > Options > Library & Folders > Manage Library Fields?

It's not a library field.

It's not a library field.

I know... But maybe it could or should be?

It was a stretch, admittedly.

EDIT: I don't, personally, see why having this in the tags would hurt anything.
