Title: Id on a Stick
Post by: JimH on November 13, 2014, 06:10:07 pm
Bob got something working today that is pretty cool.  It isn't finished, but he has put the Id on a USB stick.

When it's inserted in a NUC (or probably most other PC hardware), you can select to boot the Debian Linux that's on the stick.

It then comes up in a Utility menu, from which you can do a memtest, or continue on to a menu where you can repair or build the Id.  It will install or reinstall Linux and MC to the hard disk.

The reason he did it was to do "field rescue" missions for people whose Id is disabled.  Download the new Sticky Id, put it on a stick, and fix things up.  Very nice work, Bob.

Good work!

One of the things I love about linux is the whole LiveCD thing. When any of my family's PC's break down, the first thing I look to to start getting it working again is a LiveCD.

Very nice!

Does this also mean that installing the Id on our own NUC's is a step closer?
