Title: Ghost Duplicates
Post by: digitalzed on November 19, 2014, 03:22:08 pm
Since version .29 and forward I've had an odd phenomenon occur. Upon import of some, but not all, files, double clicking and opening the album will show 2 of each file. When I go to the actual folder where the files are stored, there is only one of each file, not two. There are no duplicates anywhere else on my computer or attached disks. Deleting either of the duplicates from MC 20 removes the file from its original folder. Doesn't matter which duplicate I delete.

Again, it's not every album, but on those that show duplicates it's clear there are no duplicates of these files, but MC thinks there is and will play the song twice. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Would anyone from JRiver be kind enough to address this issue? It's frustrating. Hoping for some support.

Are you importing from both a path and a drive that both point to the same location?

What file types?

Maybe you're importing CUE files?  A recent change means they'll get reimported.  Erase the original copy from your library, and leave the new copy.

Thanks Jim. I am importing all FLAC's, and the same way for every file or folder. I use an external hard drive that I drag and drop the files into the external drive in the respective folders. Some files from the same imports show as duplicates in MC20, others don't. This has happened multiple times since .29.

Matt, let me try that and see. I'll report back shortly.

Sorry Matt, do you mean erase the cue file or the whole folder?

Oh, I'm glad that worked.

Sorry about the one-time inconvenience.  Unfortunately CUE needed a change that required it.

For those facing similar issues, there's a bunch of threads in the Windows version discussing the situation.

Also, to help you over the hump, 6233638 posted a smartlist that you helps locate all .CUE import duplicates in your library: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=93145.msg642163#msg642163

Thanks for that. But where do I disable cue import? Tools>?

Tools>Import>Configure Auto Import>Edit

In the "Import these file types" window, expand "Audio" and then uncheck "CUE Files (cue)"
