Welcome.  Are you asking about remotes?

Thanks but I can't seems to find the answer there - does the iPad app "talk" to the jriver on the computer over wifi?
and do they have to be on the same wfi network?
cheers

Yes.

It's possible to use JRemote on an iPad from a remote location on the Internet, but I don't think that's what you're asking.  Within your home, you would use your wireless network.

We have a board devoted to remotes.

And JRemote works great, the best remote app ever in my experience.
