Hi All,
We have a new LG 55 inch LCD TV. Previously had a Samsung with no probs at all - lesson learned.
Via HDMI.
If the TV is switched off whilst the pc is still on, but only with JRiver playing, the pc changes the resolution to 1024 x 768 ...... obviously, I then have to reset it to 1080 - this drives me mad (some say I don't have far to go ... :)) and the family can't manage to do it.
Is there any way to just tell the PC to stay at HD resolution whether of not the TV is powered on?
Any help gratefully received....

I sometimes have the same problem. I put the PC to sleep and wake it up again when it happens.

You need one of these:

I have one on my main HTPC and it makes the PC think it is always connected to the TV and the TV always connected to the PC - solves handshake and resolution switching issues.

Definitely! Also see http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=93619.msg645678#msg645678

What do you have the desktop resolution set to in MC?
What resolution do you have your PC video card set to?

You should make it so that when the display is turned off, the resolution doesn't change...here is a link that shows the appropriate registry settings:

Brilliant replies, thanks everyone.
I'm going to try the registry fix first.

Well, that is, if I can understand it!
