With the recent version of MediaCenter and the prior version, every so often when I right-click a file and choose 'open with MediaCenter' (MC is on the list because it's been installed for years), the software will extract and proceed to completely reinstall itself onto the computer, as if it was never installed at all. This behavior doesn't happen every time I right click a file and open with MC20, but enough times so now it's annoying and if there was a resolution or explanation as to what's happening, I'd appreciate that.

Is it the same as this...

Thank you. No, that's not the behavior I'm referring to.
The program will reinstall from the original archive file on occasion when I right-click a file and choose 'open with Media Center 20'. Strangely it doesn't happen each time (at each right-click, open), but perhaps on every tenth attempt.

I'm interested in your issue. If I may ask, how do you know that your issue is not the same one that I posted about?
-
I can not think of any other reason for MC to install. Please double check that your version number is not changing. Where is it getting this "Original Archive file" from?

EDITED: Oops. I mistook kensn for the OP. Sorry for any confusion caused by the previous version of this post!
-
It sounds like the Windows file associations are set to run the install file, not MC itself.
-
Is MC running when you right click a file to play?

I apologize.
The first link to the solution for my original post was accurate and I did not read carefully enough.
Yes, it appears that disabling the automatic update option fixed the problem of MC20 reinstalling from time to time when I right-clicked a file and selected 'open with MC20' from the pop-up menu.
I'll post back if the issue has not been resolved.
Sorry again.
