Hi,
I have used Media Center for years, and I am on Media Center 20. I have the used the DLNA component and it has worked great upto now and I don't know whether its Media Center or the Receiver. Currently, I am having a DLNA issue with a RX-A830. I have three Yamaha Receivers, RX-573, RX-673 and a recently purchased RX-A830. I have used DLNA to play to the server mode of all three. Then about a couple of weeks after I bought the RX-A830 it stopped being able to play music as a DLNA Renderer. The weird thing is it will act a as a DLNA Controller. The other two Yamaha Receivers RX-573 and RX-673 render fine. So don't get it what is different about the RX-A830? Can someone please help me.
Here is what I have done so far.
* I have re installed JRiver Media Center my PC - No change
* I have removed the and re-installed the DLNA controller portion within JRiver Media Center - No Change
* Change fire wall settings - No Change
* Installed latest firmware on the Yamaha (1.60) and installing it. - No Change.
So could you please help me. I am attaching two logs, the first is a log connecting to a Yamaha RX-A830 that does not work. and the second is connects to a Yamaha RX-V573 that does work.
Thank you
David

Can you be more specific? Are you pushing or pulling? And when you say "does not work" what do you mean? What exactly does not work??
-
Hi,
I am pushing from media Center to the Yamaha. Media Center is sending "There was problem controlling the selected DLNA device. Double check your..."
Thanks
David

What media are you trying to push? And what format? Does it work if you try to push an MP3? Does it work if you try to push L16 No Header?
-
Just ordinary music a mp3, I just tried both mp3 (320) and a flack (935) and neither work. Have no clue what a "L16 No Header" is. But if you tell me where to get one I can try.
-
You can set conversion on the server. L16 is one of the possibilities.
-
I have a Yamaha 820 (prior model) and it can certainly play L16 (and I think also mp3) -- but definitely not flac.
So if you cannot play L16 (or eventually mp3) then there may be some other problem. Please check L16 and report back..

Hi everyone,
Did the same thing, same message. I attached the log.
Thank you
David

Perhaps you have a network routing problem or a firewall issue.
-
I thought the same thing but it works with two other Yamaha receivers. The A830 is on the same network with nothing between but an unmanaged switch and I had a Denon there before that worked fine with DLNA.
-
You said it worked with the Yamaha before. So what changed?
Does the Yamaha have any settings concerning whether it allows itself to be remote controlled and accept pushed streams?
-
Nothing except the receiver has changed. I still have the two other Yamahas and they still work, I can currently stream to both of them from the same PC or a even a different PC, I just can't stream to the A830. Its' crazy, I have not found any settings. I was hoping that the logs I uploaded would show something that you recognized.

I am going to send you a PM with a link where you can download a test tool.

Hey Andrew,
Thank you for all your help. I am glad to see your support for the product is excellent. We finally found the solution, the receiver needed to be reset to factory settings, something was just messed up in my receiver. Anyway for anyone who has the same issue. Here the procedure from Yamaha's website.
Thanks
David
Note: This procedure will be done on the front panel.
1. Set the unit to Standby Mode using the Power button. (Upper left side/corner.)
2. While holding down Straight button, hit the Power button. Keep holding down the Straight button until you see Advanced Setup flash on the front screen or SP IMP.
3. Use the Program Selector buttons to navigate to INIT-CANCEL and press the Straight button to select INIT-ALL.
4. Turn off the unit using the Power button. The settings will be reflected the next time the unit is powered on.
