Title: NAS playback
Post by: ldoodle on December 02, 2014, 10:26:08 am
Hey,

Are there any apps that allow you to browse a NAS share and playback the media?

I include VIDEO_TS and BDMV full disc rips in the requirement.  Happy to pay for something that has a nice UI.

Thanks.

You should let us know what type of device you want to stream to. My Synology NAS provides an app for my iPhone but I don't believe it'll stream from a ts_video folder, and (correct me I'm wrong) I dare suspect you'll not be able to find a capable app for either the iPhone or Android.

Have you tried Gizmo (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Gizmo)? If the files are loaded to your MC library then Gizmo will be able to pick them up and stream the video.

As a fallback option, you could try ES File Explorer File Manager (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en). I know it can surf a local network. Haven't tested its audio or video player.

Devices to stream to would be a Nexus, or other Android based tablets.
