Title: XP - Multiple users, only owner can run MJ
Post by: inversevelocity on January 25, 2002, 08:29:32 pm
All of the other user accounts get a registration error when trying to run MJ... How do I fix this?  Thanks

Or... barring fixing it... how do I get the other users WinAmp to work for them while I use MJ...  It seems the MJ file associations have no problem going from user to user, but the actual program wont work for anyone but me!  So far I love the product, and would hate to have to uninstall it for something as simple as this!

Just in case anyone else has this problem... I figured out a work around for now...

If you go into each other users account right click on an MP3 and choose properties, then change the "open with" settings to "WinAmp" it will stop calling MJ...

I'm wondering if this is related to the problem I posted a few days ago (3-user XP system, only two can run MJ 7.2). I'll try to reset file associations for user #3. (Thought I had, but can't remember now.)

Perhaps it's because MJ writes itself only into LOCAL_CURRENT_USER, and not into LOCAL_MACHINE.

What you can try (I have't tried yet, since only 1 user (me!) is using MJ on my machine),
is to use regedit for make a backup of MJ-registry-entries in LOCAL_CURRENT_USER in MJ owner,
then import this file in another user profile.

Perhaps it works then!
I will try this later on & report about it
Greetings
