A quote from the Id page that is evidently incorrect according to Hendrik.

DSD over HDMI is pretty much why I purchased the Id. My HTPC running MC does everything the Id will do. :'(
I have decoded DSD in the form of SACD discs correctly over HDMI using my Sony Blu-ray player as a source. So it doesn't look like a limitation of the STR-DA5800ES2 receiver, although it does not have a USB port for access directly to the DAC.
it would be nice to know your thoughts on it. It would be a real shame to have to buy an expensive 2 channel USB DAC because of this limitation. Please tell me you guys are working on it.

This is somewhat out of my experience range but this thread contains a expansion by Hendrik on what the issue is, namely the GPU doesn't do DSD over HDMI. From a hardware point of view that makes total sense to me.
