Title: Theater view / Online media slideshow not working with 'no theme"

The 'online media slideshow' for Playing Now in Theater view only works when I select the 'default' appearance theme (or my own theme).
The slideshow does not work when I select 'no theme'.

Is this by design?

P.S.
Yes, the 'default'-theme is the theme with the Van Gogh pictures, that I don't like in this context.

Yeah.  You need to pick a theme.

I'm not even sure why we make (No Theme) a choice.

OK, thank you for your quick answer.

But strange, the other options Theater View>Appearance>Theme>Background work even with (No Theme).
