Title: Tagging/cover art processing question
Post by: tseipel on December 14, 2014, 08:11:08 am
Good morning,

I use JRMC20 to edit metadata and embed cover art in my Lossless FLAC files. I am using a circa-2006 Dell Precision 690 with dual quad-core Xeon 3.0 processors and 14GB of ECC RAM running Windows 7 64-bit Professional and am reading/writing the files to/from a WD MyCloud EX4 16TB NAS connected via Gigabit Ethernet. I am embedding 1500 x 1500 DPI cover art using the paste from clipboard function and tagging files using the Alt+Enter function. In this scenario, I routinely experience long delays in writing the tags, with MC often falling into Not Responding behavior. My question: What/where is the most likely bottleneck in the data chain? Is there anything I can do with my current setup to improve performance? If not, what change(s) in software/hardware would make the biggest improvement?

As always, I appreciate any input from the community.

Best regards,
Tim

Windows will sometimes give you that message even if everything is working. Copying to and from the drive takes time. Antivirus programs can slow things down

Hey Tim you do mean 1500x1500 pixels right?? 1500x1500DPI would be really, really big -- I have scanned 35 mm negatives at 1500dpi, but image files ?
