I have spent the past few months upsampling my PCM files to DSD, to create a new library in JRiver, called DSD Library (appropriately enough). While doing the upsampling, I have also changed album names and added other tagging info, and added album covers -- all linked to the new DSD files. Is there a way for me to link or copy the same tagging and album cover info back on to the original PCM files, so I could have 2 parallel libraries? Thanks. -- David

Hi -- Since posting this yesterday, I have had a some thoughts/ suggestions. Would MP3Tag be of help in this process? What about using the xml export function in JRiver? Could the tags in that somehow be linked to the PCM files? Or, I saw a post about converting DSD to PCM in JRiver. Thanks! -- David

Is there any kind of common file folder and file naming structure in place? If so there may be a way to use the rename, move, copy function.
If not, I don't see any easy way without writing some kind of handwritten tool.
For what it is worth, if you wanted to do this, you could have used one library and just changed your views to handle a "DSD or non DSD view"... Would have made what you want to do easier.... Along that line you might want to setup the views in new DSD library, import the files from the old Lib makes copying things easier.

Gvanbrunt, thanks. If I use the convert function, to change the DSD back to PCM, a) can the PCM files be flowed back into a new library and b) will new newly made PCM files carry the tagging/album info with them? Thanks. --- David

I haven't tried recently but I'm pretty sure if you convert files the tagging follows. Test a couple first.
So you could:
- make a backup of the library
- Convert all files to PCM
- make a smartlist that only shows DSD files
- delete them all: Make sure you select remove from library only. You don't want to permanently delete them.
- Rename the library to PCM or something.
- Make a new library called DSD
- Restore from backup to the DSD library
I think that would work.
