In many tag editors %tvepisode% tag exists. Can it be displayed in MC?
-
It all depends if your tags can be imported in MC.
It may help to know what is you external tag editor.
The corresponding field in MC is "Episode".
-
I use mp3tag or tagscanner. I have tvepisode tag in my files and both apps can read it. But I can't find it in MC. "Episode" tag is empty.
-
Sorry for my Last response ... inaccurate ...
YES YOU CAN
The field Tvepisode comming from mp3tag is a custom mp3 field (TXXX).
To import it under MC, just create a field "Tvepisode".
Then, run a "update library from tags ".
See attached image for example.
-
So strange! All other tags are displayed correctly (Copyright, Publisher, Date, Artist, Comment...). The problem is that MC returns failure trying to write tags into .mp4 files. I can do it with external tag editor only.
Thanks!!!
-
Please, re-read my last post, I' ve updated it ! . My answer was incorrect !
Sorry for that ...
-
Thanks. I've tried but tag is not displayed.
-
I've solved it! ;D
mp3tag can write into files ANY custom tags (even they are not exist in app by default). I've just created 'episode' tag and now see it in MC.
By the way, why MC can not edit .mp4 tags?
-
OK ! You got it !
The solution I gave you works with . mp3 files., but not with .mp4.. I've just tried also ...
I thought with mp3tag you where tagging .mp3 files ...
Problem solved !
-
And YES !
If you change the tag In MC, and do an
"update tags from Library " and then
"update Library from tags "
the old value comes back, which means MC has not written the tag in the file ..
There's a problem here ..
-
Can you provide a MC log? I am yaobing at jriver dot com
-
Here's an attached Log
I just have re-done the step I've described.
The field 'episode' is filled with 'fredele' as value.
I change the value to 'value1'
Do :
update tags from library
update library from tags
The file is an mp4 video. My Hex editor shows me "fredele"
In the library field setup, the option "save in file tags" is checked.
In option/ general "update tags when file info changes" is also checked.
Maybe am I doing something the wrong way ?
-
OK,
I tried to write the same tag to another mp4 file which has not been tagged with an external editor.
This time everything works as expected under MC in a correct way, but I cannot find in my Hex ediitor the field 'episode' I have written ..
If I open this file in mp3tag, it does not show the episode tag.
It seems that MC can read this tag if it exists, but does not write anything... except the XML_Carside.
I suppose that for MC this "external" custom tag is read only in this case ?
