Title: End of songs cut off on playback on Yamaha DNLA Receiver
Post by: gooddog on December 23, 2014, 05:16:31 pm
When streaming music from my PC to a Yamaha DLNA receiver the last 10-15 seconds of music is being cutoff. It doesn’t seem to be related to file type as it occurs on FLAC, MP3, WAV and M4A. The other symptom is I can’t use the slider to change the playback position of the song. When I attempt to use the slider the song either restarts or skips to the next song instead of changing the playback position. The issues are new and seem to have started after the last upgrade to version   20.0.47. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Same behavior on version 20.0.50

I have this behaviour on my Philips ASW3000 speaker too.
With 'on the fly transcoding' turned off the problem is gone, but then I can't play every file since this speaker can't play highres files.

What audio format are you pushing? Try setting the MC server to Convert to L16 No Header.

Andrew, It's set to Mode set to Original, PCM 24 no header. Changing it to PCM 16 no header produces the same results and a new one, popping/scratching noise like a vinyl record at the beginning second or two of the song. changing mode to a specific format MP3 results in no improvement.

thanks

I've noticed that if I listen to an entire album ripped to FLAC for example there aren't as many problems at the beginning or end of the songs. It appears the problems occur frequently when I manually select music and/or try to change the playback position using the slider.

Ahem. Original is just Original. If you select Original the second dropdown is irrelevant.

Try selecting Specified Format = L16 No Header.

Yes I've done that, Specified Format = L16 No Header as well as all the other selections. all have the same issues after playing a few songs.

I've poked around more this morning, using the receiver to pull content from MC works on L16 no header as well as Original and L24 with and without headers.

Thanks

I dont think Yamaha supports L24 No Header, so you are probably deluding yourself.

Can someone else can chime in on this thread?  If I push content from MC the beginning of the song has popping noise and the endings are cut off using audio mode = original or L16 with or without header, L24 with header and MP3. If I pull content from MC it works without issue using audio mode = original as well as L16 with or without header, L24 with header and MP3.

Try the PlayLeading Silence option
