Title: Yes, this MAY be a third party (JRemote) problem, but still . . .
Post by: okvaal on January 18, 2015, 08:18:05 am
. . . . in case it appears I may have missed a point or two, I try here as well:
My latest ripped albums will not play in JRemote ("Audio streaming error. There was a problem playing the current audio file"). As this seem to be the case only with my last rips, I thought I may have been fiddling with the settings in MC, without really meaning to. In case, what could be done/checked in MC to find out of this?
(I have also posted this in the third-party forum and to info.jremote, but as I'm not quite sure if it is a 3-party matter at all, I also post here.

Now MC20 also says "Something went wrong with playback" for my last ripped album. Indicating the fault is on my behalf. Help, please!

Just for info:  JRemote is actually an official part of the MC ecosystem now.

The "something went wrong with playback" message means a communication problem between MC and the target device. So what is the target device that you are trying to play to?

Ah - thanks for the JRemote info!
The target - if I get you right - is in this case the PC (Windows 7) on which my music as well as the programs are stored. Playback in MC20 on my PC, that is.
Also, JRemote on my iPad refuses to play my third and second last ripped albums. Since I posted this topic, I ripped another album though, which IS playable from both my PC and my iPad. Maybe I should re-rip the other two albums before making more fuzz about this?

Strange thing is though, that the albums are clearly visible on JRemote. It is also playable if I import the albums from my D:/drive to iTunes. Strange, isn't it?

It's probably the format that the files are stored in. If I try to play .ape files on JRiver of Gizmo I get those errors. mp3 and flac files play OK.

If you set JRiver to always convert to a format that the ithing or android device will play it  will probably work

Not in this case, I'm afraid. All my last rips have been in ALAC, and most of them work perfectly.

Sorry, BillT, you were right! I converted my files from ALAC to FLAC though, and they played perfectly. Which makes no sense, since my other ALAC files have worked fine, and I also thought it would be the right format for JRemote. So the problem is fixed, sort of, but the solution puzzles me quite a bit.
But thanks to you.  :)
