Title: JRiver window still responds to play button when I use other apps
Post by: fobos8 on January 24, 2015, 08:31:31 am
Hi all

I've just started using JRiver to play all my music and vids - I love it. I use Windows Media Center for TV and recorded TV. So I flick between the two media centres.

Say I'm playing a track JRiver and then flick over to Windows Media Centre to watch a recorded TV show, I pause the track on JRiver first and then flick over. When I find the recorded show I want in WMC I hit play. This plays the show but also starts playing the track again!!!! Its driving me and my kids nuts.

When we used Itunes this didn't used to happen. I could have stuff paused in the background on ITunes and controlling WMC didn't affect it.

Anyone got any tips on what to do.

Kind regards, Andrew

Try stop, not pause.

Are you using a remote control?

MC has settings for media keys.  They might help.

have tried using stop but when I start using another media centre and press play JRiver starts playing audio.

Try it yourself. Open JRiver, don't play anything just open it.

then open ITunes or Windows Media Centre and hit the play button on your remote or keypad whilst you have focus on the other media centre. JRiver starts playing!!!!

What to do about this Gremlin?

thanks for showing an interest Jim.

I had a look at the media keys section but I can't see how that will help. I want the key with the play symbol on it to cause media to play in JRiver.

What I don't want is for media to play in JRiver when I press play on my keyboard when I using a different media centre or player. It really shouldn't be working like this.

Anyone else have this problem?

Did you try changing the settings for media keys?
