Title: MadVR - Why does SLI make it worse?
Post by: newguy1 on January 27, 2015, 12:04:49 pm
Hi All,

I've recently got an SLI configuration going.  I noticed that MadVR got WORSE when they are configured together.  To be clear: I get better framerates with a single card.

Why?

SLI doesn't benefit video rendering, and on top of that SLI has a certain overhead, which can make single-GPU applications actually slower, which is what you're seeing.
I believe you can turn SLI on and off on a per-application basis, so I recommend to turn it off for Media Center.

Will try to figure out the by application thing.

My card is not maxed out by memory, just the GPU. I find it hard to believe that video rendering doesn't benefit from SLI...can't it do a frame by frame swap between cards?

Is this just MadVR coding?

Any ideas?  Is there an SLI setting that I can change?
