I'm a new user with Master Lic. Downloaded yesterday into my Mac mini. Up to now i've used iTunes which is installed on an external drive with a second drive used as backup. All my music files are on the external drives, none on the main drive. MC doesn't see the music files unless I do a file-open media file-and then select the file from the external drive. Then the file becomes part of the library. My question is: should I have installed MC on my external drive instead of the main drive. If so, do I have to deinstall and reinstall to solve the problem or is there another way for MC to recognize the music files on my external drives? Any help would be apprediated.

It's fine how you have MC installed.
You just need to configure auto-import to look at the right folders. Start in Tools > Import > Configure Auto-Import.

Thanks Matt.
I tried your suggestion but it still only shows the 10 files that I added to the library by opening the individual files. I can see the other files, (About 300 CDs worth), in the file tree under the iTunes folder in the external drive, but I can't make MC import them. I must be doing something wrong.

You can also do this from the File menu in Media Center:
Library / Import / Import a single folder
Click "Next", then "Browse" and locate your external media drive in the Finder dialog and select it. Click "Finish".
Now Media Center will import your media from that drive.

Ah, John T,
They are now importing as I type! Thank you.
