6233638, you may remember this thread:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=87149.msg596729#msg596729
though you will have to override the aspect ratio as that's a 16:9 display.
This is found under Tools → Options → Video → Advanced → Aspect Ratio Correction: 1.33 (4:3) output to 1.78 (16:9)
This was working fine until I recently done a clean install of Windows and MC. Now with these same settings (I think!) Theater View displays the image in a (cropped) box centered vertically and horizontally. I don't remember doing anything other than what you suggested, so not sure what's going on.
My desktop resolution is 1366x768 for streaming.
Thanks

I forget if you were using madVR (ROHQ) or not.
If I recall correctly, you need to set the output to 1024x768 when aspect ratio correction is enabled.
With MC's switcher (RO Std.) this is set via Tools → Options → Video → Display Settings
With madVR's switcher, it is set here: http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/MadVR_Expert_Guide#Display_Modes (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/MadVR_Expert_Guide#Display_Modes)
That way the resolution only changes to 1024x768 when playing video, and it means that Media Center handles all the scaling rather than having the display rescale it.

Thanks.
Think that explain is then. I am using ROHQ and I was using Tools → Options → Video → Display Settings.
I'll try the madVR route and see how I get on. So I enable ARC in MC, but set the options in madVR and leave MC's Display Settings alone?

I must be doing something wrong in madVR. I assumed it would be the same as what I would normally set MC to in Tools → Options → Video → Display Settings.
So:
list all display modes madVR may switch to: 1024x768p30
So a single entry, as I want all video to be 1024x768, so that aspect ratio correction kicks in and outputs it to widescreen.
But it doesn't work.

Use 24/50/60Hz depending on what your display supports.
30Hz outputs from a PC are interlaced and either won't exist (typically only available with 1080i output) or won't work with your TV.
-
Ah OK. I just 'copied' what MC offers:
1024x768@30
1024x768@60
Does MC detect what's available as options in the list?
-
That done it. Thanks again...

Glad you've got it working again! :)
