my first attempt at setting up recording rules isn't working. Is there a trick to this? I'm assuming JRM doesn't have to be running in order for a TV series to record? Looking at the recording rules it is set to record tomorrow (friday) but it will not as every day earlier this week has not recorded.

Either MC should be running, or Media Server should be running.
-
I assume there is a way to run as a service upon computer restart so the application doesn't have to be open on screen and is running 24/7? Haven't looked into that yet.
thanks.

That's what the "Media Server" Yaobing mentioned is. It's a tray widget. Look under the startup options and tell it to start the server on boot.

I have media server running on startup. Looking at the "to be recorded" it shows tv shows that are to be recorded as expected based on my recording rules setup. However, nothing is being recorded. Any ideas?
-
Is Recording enabled? Tools > Options > Television > Recording > Enable Recording.
It is enabled by default, but might it have been turned off by accident?
-
Yes, it's enabled.
-
Are you using client-server setup or just a stand-alone computer?
-
Stand alone.... not familiar with the other setup.

Sorry, where are the log files you need located? thank you.

Help > Logging.
Follow the three steps outlined there.

In your case, you should turn on logging, and wait until a scheduled recording is supposed to have happened, then grab the log.

Believe i found the problem... i was using the /mcc close option which was also closing the media server... now using option 2 as documented in the core commands. actually had to create a macro which uses the close command with option 2 a total of 3 times since in theater view mode after sending a stop command as well.
thanks for your help.
