Title: change language metadata inside mp4 files?
Post by: Bill Kearney on February 10, 2015, 09:20:09 pm
Is there a way inside of MC to change the language metadata on the video and the audio streams inside of an mp4 file?

I've got a ton of home movies recorded with a flip camera that inexplicably all have their language set to Japanese.  I'm guessing there was some default setting for this somewhere.  The media is recorded in english.  I'm specifically NOT talking about actually translating anything to/from Japanese.  I'm in need of a way to bulk change the stream 0 video and stream 1 audio language metadata.

I imported the files into JRMC20 and it does not appear to be using/paying attention to this.  That's fine, but other players do see the language metadata and that presents problems.

So given the swiss army knife nature of MC I was hoping there'd be a way to correct this mess.  Is there?

If not, is there other tool that could be used to change them in bulk?

I've not yet figured it all out but there's a tool called mp4box that looks like it'll be useful for this.  mp4track allows editing metdata without re-muxing the files.
