Title: Thunderbolt display speaker selection
Post by: Hans Dampf on February 14, 2015, 02:01:09 pm
Hi there,

Set-up: MBP with Yosemite, Thunderbolt-Display and Media Center, version 20.0.67.

Using only my MBP Media Center of course takes the internal MBP speakers for sound output of my audio files. When I plug-in the Apple Thunderbolt display it keeps on using the MBP speakers instead of those of the display, which I'd prefer. I tried several variations of the audio settings, but as the Media Center setting section uses unfamiliar labelings, I'm not quite sure, what I'm doing there (I read the wiki). I'm pretty sure I tried everything, but only with variations of not changing anything, changings that will get rechanged after a new start or with no sound output at all. Media Center also changes and blocks the Audio-Midi-Setup panel of the system software.

Any hint and help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Hans

Pausing MC and playing something, e.g. from a web site within a web browser causes MC to change to the notebook speakers. The only way to bring the sound back to the display speakers is to restart a computer. This sucks.

Seems to be an Apple issue.  :-[

I tried another player which comes up with the same problem.
