Title: Album isn't playing gapless - it is cross-fading
Post by: jaredean on February 18, 2015, 06:27:02 pm
I just purchased an album that was WAV 24bit...i converted to FLAC and added the artist/album, etc. before adding it to JRiver.  But, while listening to the album the tracks keep cross fading and it is annoying because it sounds like a very bad segue done by a novice DJ...

I made sure the TAG had all of the same info for the album (Artist, Album, Album Artist, etc.)...

This is the very latest version (20.0.67)

Check your settings for track changes under Audio.

If you pick Gapless as the between tracks mode, does that work?

In other words, is it only the 'Use gapless for sequential album tracks' that's a problem?

I changed it to Gapless for between tracks mode and it worked perfectly...

Here is another clue: this is the only album that i'm having a problem with not playing correctly from track to track on the same album.  It is the new Angels and Airwaves "The Dream Walker" album that i bought on their website that was 24-bit WAV files (nice surprise since it showed 320 MP3 files in the FAQ)...so, not sure if that helps or not...

Would you be willing to share the album with me?  Then I could test exactly the same thing here.

I'm matt at jriver dot com.  Dropbox, etc. works.

The problem is that the track # field is blank for the files.  So it doesn't think it's playing from a continuous portion of an album that way.

Editing track number for all the files with:
=Counter()

Makes it start working.

Oh man, DUH...i'm not used to having to add all of the tag info, but since they were WAV files i had to do that...i was thrown by the actual song titles being there and having track numbers leading, so it fooled me...

thanks for taking a look at that...promise i'm not that dense usually...
