Title: No sound in Windows after closing JRiver 20
Post by: MCATUCCI on February 20, 2015, 06:58:29 pm
I'm using JRiver with WASPAI and with the older version (19) after I closed JRiver all my Windows audio returned. I could play a game, listen to Youtube, etc fine. But with 20 after I close Media Center there is no audio in Windows. If I open Youtube the video plays but there is no sound. It as if JRiver is not giving back control to the OS. Can anyone help?

Hi

It is possible that you have the JRiver WMA sound driver selected for your audio in Windows, in which case you only get sound if JR is running.

Sounds like you're closing Media Center 20 while the WDM driver is set as the default sound output device in Windows. What happens is Media Center needs to be running for sound output from the WDM driver to work. Fortunately you can either change your default sound output device from the WDM driver to your speakers/headphones in Windows to get sound back or if you want to use the WDM driver you can set Media Server to run all the time by going to the Tools menu > Options > Startup > Windows Startup and set the Run on Windows startup setting from None to Media Server. As long as Media Server is running you should be able to close Media Center and still have sound output while using the WDM driver.
