I had this working last week but I now can't view TV channels from a client. I get an error message "No television tuner is available to fulfill your request. Please make sure you have a device that is not in use". I then get the same message when trying to view a channel on the server or the server locks up. The server works fine until I attempt to do it from a client.
Things I have changed since last time are:
1. Turned on authentication to use library sync.
2. Upgraded from 20.0.73 to 20.0.79.
3. Deleted all channels and rescanned.
However, I have reinstalled 20.0.73 and turned authentication off and the problem persists. I have also rebooted both machines and tried it from the client without first using the tuner on the server, so it can't be holding onto a connection somehow.

After rebooting server, are you able to play a TV channel on the server?
-
Yes.
-
If you try client again after verifying the server is working, it gets messed?
-
I'm actually getting the same behavior; I have an HDHomerun prime and my server is locking the tuner channel when recording such that it never unlocks (sometimes the server instance of MC locks up too). I get the same, "no tuner available," and I have to restart the server or the tuner or both. I used to get this behavior many builds ago, but it had stopped for a while. It started when I upgraded from .66 to .73, and it's still present on .79

Does Tools > Options > Television > Advanced > Show Status reveal anything on the server?

It could well have been pre-73 that I last had it working.

Does Tools > Options > Television > Advanced > Show Status reveal anything on the server?
This is the output while the server is quite happily playing a channel:
This lists the status of television devices and recording actions that are queued. The text will also be placed on the clipboard.

State: Watching
Channel: BBC Radio 6 Music

I then stopped the channel, loaded up a client and connected to the library and then played a channel from the client. Something different happened this time, I got a fullscreen display view window onteh client with "Opening..." flashing at the bottom for about 10 seconds. I swiutch back to standard view to see if there wer any error messages and I got:
"Something went wrong with playback. Details: Failed to open or parse file. (hr=0x800004005). I Ok'd the dialog and went to the server to get the status.

I tried selecting a channel again and got the same Opening message but let it continue and this time it actually worked. The TV channel appeared on the client.
OK, so...
I closed MC down on the client then rebooted the server and tried again, and again it worked. So I'm sorry, I can't reproduce this tonight! I just couldn't get it working at all last night.

Ok. Thanks. Now I have two issues that was bad last night but not today :)

Did we have the full moon last night?

Well, if it's any consolation, the error message "unable to parse file" is still appearing, but for radio channels only on the client. TV channels are working OK. I'm going to have to play around with this a bit more.

yeah, I double checked mine, and my prime is releasing tuners just fine.
