Hi
Is there a way to copy tag info from one tag to another a bit like a SQL Update query. It can't just point to the other tag as I would like to alter the original tag later.
eg I have tags Date and Year, I use date for rock to denote the Year Released , but I leave them blank for classical as it often confuses Album groupings.
I would like to use Year , and copy all <Dates> to <Year> , and then change the Date tag later for reissues , remasters, etc with the release date
I can create custom tags if this is not possible
Cheers

You can edit files and use an equal sign to enter an expression.
That means you could edit the Year and type:
=[Date]
And it would copy the date field over to the year.

Right-Click → Library Tools → Move / Copy Fields…

Thanks
Matt , If I now change the [Date] will [Year] change along side it ie will the two fields always be equal; by using that expression. ? What I want is to copy Date to year and then change the Date field leaving Year alone
For example an album released in 1970 and re-mastered in 2010 I want Date = 2010 , Year = 1970. Currently I have Date = 1970 Year blank. Then I can show in the Theatre view [Year] [ Album] eg 1970 Blind Faith etc
I hope I am making sense
I will try the other option suggested and see if that does what I want

I believe [Year] is derived from [Date]
I created a new field to keep the original release date, and specific version release dates separate.

AH That makes sense
I was thinking of a custom field Original Release Date or the like anyway , but I would still like to copy [Date] -> [Original Release Date] and keep [Date] as the Actual Release date
I will have a go with the field copy you recommended
Thanks
