Title: Crackling
Post by: larryrup on March 04, 2015, 01:23:34 pm
I have read most of the posts on this issue, but cannot resolve.  Here is what I have and have set.

Intel i3 processor (latest gen)
Using on board HD4000 graphics and sound
Win 8.1
Latest v20 release of MC.
JRiver v20 set as default in Control Panel-Sound
Buffering set to 10ms
large buffers unchecked (nothing checked on that screen)
Video settings:Hardware accelerated checked, nothing else checked.
Using VCL player (more on why in another post)

Problems began with installation of the WDM driver.

Source file from a hard drive elsewhere on my home network.  Problem with any file type (avi, mkv) and does not start at beginning of movie, but well into it.  The crackling is as loud as the voices.  Noise is present on any file that is played.

Any direction to get around the noise?

Thanks

Larry

Buffering set to 10ms

That sounds much too small and it's probably why you're getting crackle.

Please increase it and try again.

Thought I read a suggestion to reduce it.  If memory serves me 50ms was the default.  Sound like a good setting?

thanks
