Title: Problem starting JRiver after auto import
Post by: kanniet on March 04, 2015, 02:49:23 pm
hello,

I have this strange behavior of JRiver (20) on my Imac mini (latest model). It seems that after an auto import was done, the program freezes (a song plays for 4 seconds without sound, and then skips to 0 seconds).
JRiver can be stopped but it won't restart.
I have to do a reboot of the iMac for JRiver to work again. Is this a familiar problem? What to do about it?

Hello Kanniet,

Is your MC20 set to the correct audio device?

Best regards,

Yes, double check your audio setup.  Also enable logging (Help / Logging) and send a log file after this problem occurs to logs at jriver dot com.

It is set to multi channel (core audio), but which one to choose? Should I switch to HDMI?

Hello Kanniet,

It depends on where your audio device is hooked up to. if it is connected through HDMI cable, try HDMI (core audio). Otherwise, try built-in output (core audio) to start with.

For examples, my Mac mini used to be hooked up to a receiver using an optical cable, so I had to select built-in output. If I had connected to a receiver through HDMI, I would have used HDMI as the output. Currently, I use a DAC with my Mac mini via USB, so my DAC name also shows on the output list, so I selected my DAC from the list.

Usually, it's pretty easy to set up a Mac mini, especially since you don't need a separate driver to set it up.

Good luck! :)

Best regards,
Y. G.
