Title: MC 20 crashes after 1 minute
Post by: WiltonDave on March 08, 2015, 03:53:21 pm
On a Mac Mini, MC20 for Mac worked well for about 3 days, but now the program crashes every time it's opened after almost exactly one minute.  I have other music player software loaded but keep it all closed when I'm using MC.  Any ideas?

Mini has a USB out to a W4S DAC2SE.  I use the Mini headless controlled by Screen Sharing from a Mac Air, but that shouldn't affect playback.

Are you using Hog Mode on the Mac? Is another app, such as Pure Music or Amarra, asking for exclusive access to the DAC? See if your system sounds are not fed into the USB DAC.

I thought I posted this yesterday but I don't see it up:

I have tried it with and without hog mode.  iTunes, Amarra, PureMusic and Bit Perfect are all closed and can't be competing with MC.

MC shuts down after exactly one minute even if I'm not playing anything, and just leave the home page open.

Know anything on a Mini that operates on a one-minute cycle?

Hello,

Have you changed anything in those three days?

Best regards,
Y. G.

That's a good analytical question, but no, nothing I know of.  It's dedicated as a music server, and I didn't make any other changes to software or the operating system then, or since.

I know it may be a pain, but try backing up the library, and then clear the library and rebuild. If it still freezes around 1minute again afterward, something else maybe wrong, so restore the your library that you backed up.

Please keep us updated. Let's see what's making the hiccups.

Best regards,
