Hi all
I had another go at converting my SACD ISOs to FLACs yesterday and today. The conversion starts and runs for a while. After 20 or so ISOs the conversion produces an error message (screenshot attached). I can then only close JRiver and restart MC and the conversion process. After a while the conversion fails again in the same way.
I have also attached the JRiver log.
If I cancel the conversion process while it is running, I get the same error message.
I noticed two other things that could be improved IMHO:
- all my ISOs sit in a folder (one per ISO) which also contains Folder.jpg. This allows me to easily tag the ISOs in JRiver from the path and filename. During the conversion, this Folder.jpg gets copied to the destination directory, but only in less than 2% of the conversions. I would like the Folder.jpg to be copied for every ISO, so that I can then import them into the tags of the FLACs. It would be even better if the cover art tags were written to the FLACs at the time of conversion.
- the filenames of the target FLACs are very long (Artist / Album / track). It would be helpful to be able to specify how the converted files should be named
Thanks a lot and regards

Thanks for the report.
Your log doesn't contain conversion as far as I can see. Care to try again?
After a crash, the previous log should terminate instead of logging to the end (like it does now). Ideally there'll also be a crash dump file as well.
Thanks.

Will do, thanks

OK, next try.
MC converted around 600 files (ISO->PCM) before crashing. The next time around about 200 files.
No crash dump was produced. The previous log does contain an entry about the crash:
2459094: 3440: General: TopLevelExceptionFilter: Unhandled exception -- program crashing
2459094: 3440: General: TopLevelExceptionFilter: Message: 34768, wParam: 20041932, lParam: 0
Hope you find the problem. Converting 11'000 files this way is not really elegant.
Thanks a lot

Tools > Options > File Locations
Sorry, I could not find any option there.
What I am trying to do is change the name of the target file of ISO->PCM offline conversion. I could not find any option to do that.

Tools > Options > File Locations --- Conversion Cache
When I converted my sacd iso's, I moved the conversion cache to another location (other HDD) because I flooded my C drive (small SDD),
this helped but anyway I didn't try to convert them all in one go.
Specially with classical music (songs can be very long) this can cause a problem. I used an external ESATA HDD as cache for this during my conversions.

I checked the location of my conversion cache. It sits on a 10TB RAID array, so it really should not run out of space.

Is there any work being done on the reliability of the SACD ISO to PCM conversion for MC21? If SACD ISO to PCM conversion worked reliably, also with a large number of ISOs, I would certainly upgrade.

Do you have an ISO that reliably fails?
If so, please provide a sample to matt at jriver dot com.
Thanks.
