Title: Playing audio BD Genesis

Hopefully someone may show me what is wrong with my MC (20.0.63) setup given that I cannot play an audio BD Genesis Selling England by The Pound.

I am just trying to play the BD disk from a portable Samsung BD writer SE-506. MC tells me that "Something went wrong with playback. Details: The media type Data is not supported". Is this possible?

I'd have thought that MC can play hi res audio files. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I am using windows 7-64 bit OS.

Post by: MVA on March 25, 2015, 12:34:23 pm: No, I do not have AnyDVD HD as I thought that I would not require no software to play music from an audio bluray disk. I'd have thought that a music BD is not encrypted and it would be like playing a music CD.

I am wrong, right?

Hi, I am a newbie and I can't get to grips with this at all. I have a laptop with PowerDVD included at purchase so I added that to my custom build HTPC. It plays Bluray music discs fine but the sound is awful. MC20 is so much better on all other formats. But again I get 'something went wrong' massages if I try to play BD Pure Audio. Help please.

Post by: jmone on April 19, 2015, 06:56:22 pm: These disks are normal BD disks with a couple of "tweaks" for navigation (not relevant in an MC environment as we don't have menu support) and that the "Video Track" is just a still picture

...so the requirements are the same, you need a decrypter to play in MC.

As suggested by other users, I installed DVDFab Passkey (a bluray decripter) and then was able to play with no problems music (24bit 192KHz) from both the disc and ripped songs as FLAC from the hard disk.
The sound is amazing and yes, I can listen to a richer and more detailed music environment compared to the CD (16 bit 44.1KHz).
The bluray disks I have played using MC are Genesis (Selling England by the pound) and Supertramp (Breakfast in America and Crime of the Century).

Were you able to pick which track you wanted, e.g. DTS/Dolby, or LPCM

Post by: MVA on April 29, 2015, 01:35:58 pm: I used DVD Audio Extractor software which allowed me to rip the stereo (LPCM) 24 bit/197 KHZ tracks to the hard disk as I only wanted to listen the music in the PC. But with this software I also had the option to rip the DTS tracks.

Yes, I had the option to rip individual tracks.

I have been using DVDAE to select the correct surround audio track and save it as 5.1 FLAC. You are saying that this can be done right inside JRiver? That saves me from importing the FLACs when done.

This should be the default ripping option for Blu-ray Audio discs provided this works as I am hoping it will! Even better if I can have it rip both Stereo and 5.1 channels to FLAC in 1 pass.

You need to create Particles for each track as shown in the Particles (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Particles) wiki article. Each track can then be ripped as a separate song.

Feature request: Make BD ripping nearly as easy as CDs or somehow use an API to use DVDAE in the background. Why build it if you can partner?

I plan to play discs with Auro-3D 9.1 directly from MC. This needs bitstream untouched. Conversion to FLAC is no option.

I would be happy, if this would be possible in near future.
