Title: Question about Moving Files
Post by: AudioMan612 on April 09, 2015, 05:45:23 am
Hi,

So I'm finally going to take the plunge and redo my messy music library that started when I was in high school.  Right now, a lot of files are unorganized in that some are in folders with album art and other files.  I know how to move files based off of tags, but I was wondering if this deletes old folders and files in them (I would like it to).  For example, if I have an album's folder with its tracks and some random files, I want the tracks to be moved to a folder with the proper directory structure, and everything else that might've been in the original folder and the folder itself deleted.  Is it possible to do this?  It would take me days to go through my massive library and delete all sorts of remnants of the old library.

In the Rename, Move, & Copy Files tool, there is a checkbox to specify whether you want to "move all files in folder" or not.

What I would do is move the music files from, say, C:\Music\ to C:\NewMusic\ and once I am certain that C:\Music\ no longer contains files I wish to retain, just delete that directory. (externally from MC)

Oh I should've thought of that.  Thank you!
