Title: Q: Client Live TV
Post by: masterjoe on April 18, 2015, 07:22:06 am
Found out that its possible to use MC to watch television. That's cool.

Now consider the following scenario:
- PC 1 (client): running MC20 on Linux, NO TV tuner available
- PC 2 (server): running MC20 on Windows, Sundtek WinTV cable tuner available

Q:
1) Is it possible to watch TV on PC 1 as if the tuner was actually attached to PC 1?
2) Are there any limitations?
3) How has the setup to be done to make this working?

Television is not supported on linux and mac computers at this time.

But to clarify, the client/server tv tuner situation you describe does work if both boxes are windows (I'm doing it right now).  I use a networked tuner, but my understanding is that it works with local cards too.

Yes, on Windows client, local tuners can be used for live TV, but recording can only be on a server or an independent computer.
