Just can't find it. Did serveral seaches regarding auto-import but hmmm... nope.
How do I change the language that is used by any metadata generation?
My native language is German and I want all metadata to be in German.
Also the Movie and TV Show infos, the series' names and episodes' names and so on.
How can I ensure that all metadata / tag data is German and not English?
-
A language choice is currently not offered.
-
Oh... too bad. Is that planned for a future update?
-
Not soon.
We're going to start charging you $1/question, beginning tomorrow.
-
You consider yourself funny? ::) Regard this as my first paid question...

MJ - on a serious note, the SW is great and the team at JR even better. I've tried for many years to get many of my favourite pet projects bumped up the their priority list. I've tried nagging, complaining, sending Muffins, Wine, Media, and even resorted to a box of live chickens when Jim called my bluff..... After many years I've mellowed a bit and learned to just go along with the ride. Sometimes our "great ideas" get picked up, but mostly I've found that what I passionately want, few others do. They are a small team with much to do and it does not always align, but the good thing is they keep coming up with stuff I did not know I wanted.
-
Damn... Jim's still got "C h i c k e n" being replaced with "Python" on the forum (which he thankfully never sent!)

It is hard to imagine what you mean by "changing the language of the metadata". The name of the composer, conductor, artist, writer etc. is surely language independent. And the name of the album, track etc. is surely also language independent. And -- even in German -- surely Jazz is Jazz, and Rock is Rock. So what question are you actually asking here??
-
Movie and episode names, descriptions and genres are language dependent and are translated into many languages - not just German!
I believe that one of the biggest mistakes around here is the belief that there are only audio files which need to be managed by MC.
For the record: I mainly need to manage movies and series.
-
Ok. But then I think the metadata comes with the track. So it depends on where you download the track from. And not something that the media app would be able to influence. Or ??
-
Metadata like series names, episode names and descriptions is downloaded from TheTVDB and TheMovieDB, and is theoretically available in multiple languages. But we do not currently offer a language choice.

ask in the German forum here. The guys in the french forum figured something out. The problem with non-english servers apparently is that they are pretty incomplete or inaccurate. ... good monitored metadata is not free most of the time. Everything else is user populated
