Title: Best AES/EBU Multichannel AUDIO CARD ...?
Post by: Lupin 3rd on April 21, 2015, 09:55:22 am
Hi All,
I'll use my HTPC to see movies and to listen to audiophile HD tracks.
I need a very good audiophile card to send multichannel digital audio to my stand alone audio processor (Trinnov magnitude).

So can anyone list me some Audio cards that flawlessy work with JRiver and have very good sound?

many thanks

The most used in studio's are RME audio cards, for great quality and superb driver support.
Check this one out

Personally I use the Fireface 802 on my HTPC, I use multichannel analog on this external usb/firewire card but has only stereo for AES/EBU.
The HDSPE AES I mention in the url above, is superb, and you can connect whatever AES/EBU to it.
Just depends on your budget.
Some people on this forum are using the Lynx Studio Aurora 8 or 16 as converter, this should be very good to connect to the RME hdspe
or Lynx own AES card. I personally really like the software mixing table of RME but a lot of people find it difficult to work with, but there
are lots of videos on youtube how to use the totalmix software.

The Lynx AES16e works flawlessly with JRiver. It has 16 AES outputs. If you need fewer outputs you can go with the Lynx E44 (4 channels) or E22 (2 channels).

You can get custom breakout cables from proaudiola.com for the Lynx with the exact amount of AES outputs that you need.

I am interested in this as well.

What are the things to look out for, and what hardware have people hooked up to it?

What cable pin layout should you pick for use with standard hifi equipment?
