Hello,
I am looking for a new CD and CD RW drive.
Anybody know which is better , Plextor or Lite on or are they both the same...
I heard Plextor will ignore the new CD Copy Protection but can't confirm that.
So anybody that has either drive... Tell me watcha think..

Well I just got my 2 new Plextor drives this weekend.
If anybody needs to rip the new type of discs that EMI are releasing, the Plextor Premium drive and MC9 will rip perfectly.

I've used a few Plextors and Lite-Ons. My pick is Plextor, mainly because of build quality (general sturdiness and quieter at high speeds) and firmware updates. Also significant to me: PlexTools. Some troublesome issues presented by discs that are corrupted (deliberately or otherwise) are handled quite smoothly with PlexTools Pro.
I don't know if they are distributing PlexTools Pro with US drives yet - it was developed by Plextor Europe and shipped with their drives, and US buyers got stuck with PlexManager, which is... less useful. They said that they would start shipping PlexTools with all drives - perhaps someone with a newish Plextor drive can confirm or deny that. Either way, it's worth getting.

Yes pro is shipped. But only with the Premium drive.

I don't mean to slag a particular company outright, but I was never happy with my LiteOn CD-RW (24x10x40) drive.
I'm receiving a new CD burner tomorrow (Samsung 52x that is a DVD player as well) and can't wait to get the LiteOn out of my system.
Go for the Plextor. Even though I've never used one, it's the one I would choose if I could go back in time.
