Title: Can I connect subwoofer to 2 sources via separate RCA input?
Post by: raider on April 24, 2015, 08:17:08 pm
Hello,

With the help of a friend, I managed to buy a very good condition used Yamaha AVR with the pre-outs that I need. The AVR is a Yamaha RX-V1065 7.2 with 7.2 channel pre outs. Nice.

I have a rotel 06SE amplifier also with a stereo preout. Currently my subwoofer is connected to this rotel via this preout.

I am going to connect the Left an Right pre-outs of the yamaha to the Rotel's Aux 2. so that when I am watching movie, the rotel get used for the front speakers. But I want to maintain the sub connecting to the rotel as well so that I can use the rotel + sub for music when the AVR is not in use.

My Subwoofer is an Veloydne Impact 10 with a Red RCA input and a white RCA input. the white RCA input is also marked LFE.

Can I connect the subwoofer this way?
 - white RCA of the sub to the LFE on the Yamaha
 - red RCA of the sub to the red RCA preout on the Rotel

Will I kill something along the way or burn down the house?

Thanks
