Title: MC Mac the same as MC Windows?
Post by: Foxman50 on April 27, 2015, 09:26:29 am
Hi all, please don't shoot me down as im sure this has been asked a million times. I'm trialling JRiver on a pc and have got it working well on my xp laptop using jremote on ipad. In fact it sounds and works great.

For obvious reasons i dont want a windows laptop running next to my DAC, so want to purchase a Mac Mini, so is the functionality and sound quality of the Mac version the same as the Windows version.

If theres a thread or info on it, would someone kindly point me in the right direction. And if not could you please make me aware of any glaring differences. To be fare i only use it for music and have to say i like the output to DSD quality.

Oh and help on mac mini spec, eg ram/processor recommended for using the output set to DSD.

Many thanks Graeme

The Mac version is audio and video only.  For audio, you can consider the Mac version equivalent to the Windows version.

Hi Jim

Thanks, With regard to spec will any of the 2012 mac mini models be powerful enough to do the DSD conversion. The laptop is struggling with the odd pause, but this is a lowly old machine.

The Mac version is audio only.

No it isn't, Jim. (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=92965.0)

Video support was added to MC20 for Mac (quite some time ago).  I use it all the time.  ;) ;D
