When I start JRiver 20 - Windows 7 64-bit - I get the read-only message.
I've read dozens of people with this problem and the solution is always to remove the lock.jmd file.
Except I don't have one.
Now what?
Trying to ultimately communicate with my PS Audio PWD II.
Many thanks,

Are you running MC as another user? That's the usual reason. Media Server counts.

Not really sure what you're asking.
For Windows I am the only user on this machine. I just start JRiver - and immediately get the locked message.
Why can't I locate the lock file?
This machine is on my home WiFi but not anything more complex than this.

Maybe create a new library in a folder you know you have control over.
