Title: Room EQ Wizard and JRiver WDM Driver
Post by: michael123 on May 10, 2015, 07:50:45 am
Hello,

I've configured Room EQ Wizard to use JRiver's "virtual" sound card to create filter parameters (VST3).
While overall it seems to be working, I've noticed that
- there was some substantial latency of 2-3 seconds before the sweeps started
- there were annoying pops and clicks..

The instructions advise setting the buffer size.

It's under options-->Audio-->advanced-->live playback latency.

Check the wiki: http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/WDM_Driver

It answers those questions and a few more besides.

Thanks, if I understood correctly, since the issues are only when routing REW through MC, I shall set the input buffer -

The input buffer, found at Options-->Audio-->Advanced-->Live Playback Latency

Did not understand, though, what values shall I put there, but I do understand that I need to play with..

You need to play with both the input and the output buffer as they interact with each other.  Just because playback works fine without the WDM drive doesn't mean the output buffer is the best setting for WDM playback.

You do need to play with them, there is no formula for success.  Some devices work better with large buffers, some with small ones.  Try different combinations in a systematic way until you find the one that works.
