I know captures are a PITA, and these TS files are probably broken.
However, I'm getting a problem that seems to have started recently where some of my TS files have no sound in MC. They have sound without issue when played in VLC.
I'm uploading an example, but it's a big, huge file. Sorry, usually they're episodes of My Little Pony and I just delete them, but this one I wanted to keep. It is still uploading. I'll update/bump this thread later when it completes, but expect it to take until tomorrow.

Actually, I'd assumed that editing the file would "fix" it, but that turns out not to be the case. Here's a snip of a recording. As mentioned above, this clip has sound in VLC player, but not in MC:

I'm reasonably sure this started sometime in the past 2-4 months. I'd never noticed a file like this before then, and I didn't change anything about my recording setup in the interim. I was convinced my wiring was faulty to one of my Cable boxes for a while, but I've confirmed that (and, they play in VLC).

It has sound in MPC-HC too.

It plays fine for me. ??

Plays fine for me also.
Note though that on one system it is being down mixed to stereo, and on the other it is being decoded, has multiple volume adjustments plus room correction, then is encoded back to AC-3. So my tests may not be very meaningful.
On the first stereo only system the input is 48kHz 32bit 6channel from source format ac3, and the output is 48kHz 32bit 2channel using WASAPI direct connection.
On the HTPC system the input is 48kHz 32bit 6channel from source format ac3, and the output is 48kHz 16bit 2channel using WASAPI (not using enough bits to output the input directly).
My output on the HTPC always says it is 2 channel, I believe because it is always AC-3 encoded, which is essentially multiple channels encoded into two.
Anyway, the clip works, but is being massaged by both my systems.

Hmmm. Thanks for testing. Maybe something is wrong on my system.

Great. Now it plays fine (both the snip and the original) for me too.
I blame the cough syrup and the cold caused by the 4 year old.

Phase of the moon.
Colour of the rainbow.
Sound of the weather.
All these things could have caused a minor brain slip, or a system gremlins to try their luck.
