Hey all, can anyone tell me the best methodology for creating a video or audio only recently imported list? I'd really like to be able to get to the list from the Recently Imported button on the menu bar, but that may be asking too much!
Thanks!

There is a "Recently Imported " playlist in the standard MC installation. Look under "Playlists" in the left column.
To add a button for it just go into Options -> Tree & View -> Customize toolbars. Scroll down to and select the "Recently Imported" item and click Add, then Done, then OK and the button will be up on the menu of MC.
If you don't like that default playlist, you can customise it, create your own, rename, group, etc. Search the Wiki for Playlist, or just hit this link: http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&profile=default&search=Playlist&fulltext=Search

Oh, and if you want JUST video, or JUST audio in the Recently Imported list, create a Smartlist and specify any parameters you like.

Better to go here for advice on making your own Smartlists:

You can also browse the Playlists category, which includes the modern, updated content:

True.
How about adding a custom button to the toolbar and having it link to a specific Smartlist? Possible? Simple?
The Customise Toolbar functionality seems to be limited to existing functions, and there is no way to direct what a button links to. Unless one starts editing skins or something I guess.

You can't nest the Playlists under the built in Recently Imported playlist (which is special and automatically managed), and you can't pin them to the Toolbars (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Toolbars) in MC. However, you can make your own Smartlists with whatever parameters you want, and organize them however you'd like under Playlists in the tree.
I usually find it is more useful to make a special Media View (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Views) for dealing with new content, though. I have a variety of these under the Audio, Images, and Video top-level Views in Media Center:

Thanks Glynor.
There is nothing like some visual examples to make things clear.
I really must make some time to build some views and clean up my messy media collection, so the views are worth using. ;D

Yes, guys! Thank you very much for the Smartlists link AND for the images. Looking at your pictures made me realize just how curious I am to see what other people are doing... I think there may be some really cool things out there that I never even thought of, and screenshots may be just the thing to really start customizing... Maybe we should start a thread for us all to show off how we like to do things. I am sure there are organizational tips and tricks that we may all benefit from. On that same vein, I'd love to see some peoples customized theater views, if there is such a thing beyond making special sections. In addition to that, if you have any cool zone rules, post some screens of that!
Thanks again!
