hello,
BIG PROBLEM that has just snuck up on me. Some of the tracks in my library have suddenly become unplayable in media center.
They are still recognized and playable by other windows mp3 players, and indeed over a network by iTunes, but MEdia Center shows them as faded icons and won'[t play them.
I've come across a similar problem before when iTunes started losing tracks in similar way, but that turned out to be header corrupetion in vbr files and was fixed by a little programme called vbrfix. In this case however ... no joy.
Any ideas?

Try File/Update Library. You have some files that MC can't find.
Then import again.

done that! Files are actually still there, but must be corrupted in some subtle way that only affects media center, not any other mp3 players!!

I have had this happen too but only with one album. I have definitely played this album in the past so I am not sure what has happened. I will do some experimenting tonight and see what I can find out. Maybe my findings will help you too... ;D

I've revived the tracks by reinstalling 9.0 and recreating the library.... :(
Looks like 9.1 isn't quite ready yet....

::) I know this problem. I am not sure what the reason is... but there i a work-around!
Open Windows Explorer, mark all files you have problems with, right click and choose "Play in Media Center"
It should work! Media Center knows them as mp3s again. ::)
